Vision Boards: Make your dreams a reality...
75
I put together my first ever vision board a couple of weeks ago and I had so much fun with it!
I first heard about this concept approximately 4 years ago when The Secret came out. For those that don’t know, The Secret is a book by Rhonda Byrne which discusses The Law of Attraction and how you can utilise it to attract what you want AND need into your life. If you are fully conscious of this law and from this I mean, if you BELIEVE the Universe is governed by a series of natural laws, this particular one being that: thoughts attract it WILL work quicker. I only write about what I know. And not only has it worked for me, it continues to work magic in my life, daily.
WHAT IS A VISION BOARD?
A vision board is a visual collation of cut-out pictures or words, basically all the things that you want to be, have or do in your life. It represents your goals, your dreams and your vision.
As visual beings we immediately respond to visual stimulation. This response then triggers our emotions and it is this energy which then activates the Law of Attraction.
Think about it, if you’re consciously thinking about your goals day in day out AND seeing this visual representation of your goals in colour... you will begin to take action to manifest your dreams. Try it and see!
WHAT IS YOUR VISION?
Your highest dream? Your passion? Your purpose? The thing that wakes you up in the morning and that you’d do for free?
Do you wish you were married or in a serious relationship with your soulmate?
What about the material stuff? What car do you want to be driving this time next year? How about that ideal house you want to live in? Do you want to be a millionaire? Or earn XX amount monthly?
Which country do you dream of spending the rest of your life?
In creating your vision board the first thing you need to get really clear about, is this. Remember it is your vision... and YOUR LIFE.
Whatever it is that you want to achieve, hold it in your mind...
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Now for the fun part. You will need:
- Magazines; that relate to the areas of what you want
- Poster board or foam board
- Scissors
- Blu-tack or pins
If you don’t want to buy magazines try your local library, they probably have loads they don’t need. Or you can pick up freebies from your cafes, doctors and dentists surgery. I got a whole stack of mags free from my local cafe. Just ask!
Or you can download images from the internet. It is always good to get a diverse choice of colourful images.
FIND A COMFORTABLE SPACE
Set yourself time and find a quiet comfortable space.
Clear your mind and know that all of what you need is within those pages. It is important that the images you choose FEEL right. Remember this is your life so your choices should be made from the heart and instinctively.
Flip through the magazines and find pictures and words that resonate with you.
As I was doing mine there were some words that just leapt out at me, so I cut them out and stuck them on my board. It doesn’t have to make sense. Just trust the process and try not to understand or rationalise it. The main thing is that it feels right and that it has meaning for you.
YOUR VISION BOARD
You can apportion segments of the board to areas of your life, such as LOVE MONEY CAREER HEALTH SPIRITUAL or you can just go with the flow. But make it neat.. you want order to represent the structure for your life.
Some people suggest putting a [happy] image of yourself slam dunk in the middle of the board, to give it a personal touch. Again its up to you. You can use quotes, affirmations or images of people you want to meet - ANYTHING goes!
Remember you can create your vision board in more than one sitting. Take your time with this. Mine took a few days to complete, and there is still an empty spot at the bottom for an image I have yet to find. But it’s ok.
Just get your creative juices going and have fun with this!
Put your vision board in a place where you will see it every single day! And sit with it for a few minutes daily to absorb this powerful visual of your dreams. The objective is to keep you focused on your goals and seeing them daily should spur you into take action.
Thanks for reading and get started on your vision... TODAY!

Awesome Ashantina! Always happy to read and spread the message about Law of Attraction.
Changing my thoughts, and thus my feelings has truly changed my life. I have never been happier in my life, now that I am applying LOA principles.
Have been thinking about doing my Vision Board for a week, this article came just in time for me- helpful:)
I have a vision board, it's high time I made another, many of the items on my vision board have been realized... NEXT! Thank you for the very positive flow of energy! May you have more than enough in every regard of prosperity! :) Katie
P.S. They do work, just keep looking and believing.
I was just thinking of writing a hub about the
Very same thing!! I've always kept a vision board

I don’t have a vision board, not yet! I have been thinking about it though and your hub has made me even more determent! Thanks for this great and inspirational hub!
I Have included my definite purpose in writing on my vision board. This allows my thoughts to connect with my personal beliefs in helping others and finding new ways to experience love.Pictures of things I love are important but I think a vision board should go much deeper. My thoughts go far beyond just material things.I also write in large letters my feelings that I feel when I get what I want.Peace,Giving,Sharing,Loving,Understanding so that I never loose sight of my dreams.Sometimes a picture board can be too materialistic and I think people are so much more than the objects they can acquire.Your hub inspired me to make a new vision board.I love people that live on the edge of making all their dreams come true.Good luck and peace and love where ever you go.I loved the hub and the Secret and I am always learning more.
Hi Ashantina,
I had heard about vision boards a while back, but your Hub has inspired me to go ahead and do something instead of just reading about. So many thanks for your wonderful Hub!
Cool! I need to try this, as nothing else has seemed to help me. : ) Thanks for sharing this with those of us pulling our hair out, trying to figure what everyone else's secret is to succeeding. Voted up and bookmarked!
This is great! I made a vision board a few years ago...I am now inspired to create another one. I definitely believe in the law of attraction and seeing those things you desire on a vision board is a big help of keeping the dream alive!
Hi, what a great idea! I have heard about talking to the universe before but not in such a visual way, I am going to have a go at this! lol
Voted this awesome and useful Ashantina- I actually just returned from my spiritual retreat and was in conversation with a friend about this activity. For the life of me I could not recall the name of the 'board' so this is sweet synchronisity that the Universe has provided the answer. Thanks for visiting my site and nudging me over to your work once more.
I do regular collage work with my patients, which is a mini vision board. I love facilitating the group b/c it is inspiring to encourage them, but also, it is such a creative activity.
My collage work (mini vision board) led me from 'dreaming' about opening my own dance studio, back in the late '80's, to actually doing it...in just two weeks! It was incredibly powerful.
Great hub. Thanks for sharing.
I have been to the Secret website and know a little about this but also, Dr. Wayne Dyer stresses some of the same things and I have read countless books by him. We are what we think for sure. I enjoyed the read. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, again, just to say I have been passing this on to a couple of my friends! so even if I don't get around to trying it for a while, I know they will be busy making theirs, they loved it!
Thank you Ashantina for writing such a practical useful guide. You have made "The Secret" so accessible for everyone by doing this. As you know this is my pet topic but this is an approach I had not come across.Voted up!
I have read the 'The Secret' but have never come across the idea of a vision board. Thanks so much for writing about it! I will definetely set about creating it TODAY :D
Great hub! I believe in the vision board and I read the "Secret." They provide a way to lift yourself up and position yourself to receive the bounties of the universe. Thanks for reminding me about the Law of Attraction.
I love the idea of doing a vision board. It seems that I'm sadly uneducated about The Secret or vision boards, but you've inspired me to learn more. :) Great hub!
I just told my "hubby" the other day that he and I need to do a vision board... He has all these old mag clippings from before he and I met of his dream bed...the sofa set he wanted... it's all from years ago. I told him if we visualize it every day...it will force us to focus on it... You have given me the focus on getting it done!!!!
Love this idea. Thanks for sharing.
Great post, I just wrote a new hub on how I use Pinterest as an online vision board and I will add your hub for people to learn more about creating a vision board.

I've read The Secret, watched the movie, and heard John Assaraf, Jack Canfield and others speak about vision boards, but haven't taken the time to create one, yet.
I do, however, often visualize positive, specific outcomes during meditation which also works well.
Thanks for sharing this cool hub. I voted it up and useful.
